Ankle High History
19 March 2009Scotland's Rural Past (SRP) works with communities across Scotland, inspiring volunteers to research, record and interpret their local historic rural settlements and landscapes.
BBC Radio 4’s Ankle High History is a series of four weekly programmes following the work of the SRP team and the volunteers in Mull, Strathconon, Glen Muick and Glen Clova, and Killin. The first programme is broadcast on Sunday 22 March at 2.45pm and sees presenter Mark Stephen exploring a drover’s road between Glen Muick and Glen Clova.
SRP was launched in October 2006 as a five-year Heritage Lottery Fund project. The SRP team provide expert training, advice and support for volunteers and ensure that the information they gather becomes accessible to a wider audience through the RCAHMS database and the SRP project website.
SRP was shortlisted for Best Archaeological Project at the 2008 British Archaeological Awards.
