Hi-Spy Photography carried out by RCAHMS

Hi-Spy photography is one of several methods used by RCAHMS to record Scotland's sites and monuments. The Hi-Spy comprises a camera mounted on the end of a mast which can be extended upwards to a maximum height of some 15m. The camera is operated remotely from the ground. In some instances, Hi-Spy photography is the only way to photograph an entire monument and is particularly useful to illustrate souterrains, cairns, stone circles, excavated sites and sculptured features high on exterior walls of monuments.

A selection of recent photographs taken using the Hi-Spy camera can be seen here - click on an image to view the full-size version. Prints of all images can be obtained by contacting RCAHMS directly at info@rcahms.gov.uk quoting the name of the site or building, the SC number, the size and nature of each image required. A price list of services for photographs, digital images and other copies can be found under the price list page.
