Pilmuir Works, Foundry Street, Dunfermline (copyright Bryan Burke)

This small street separates the St Margaret's Works and the Pilmuir Works. Both originally were built for the purpose of weaving damask. The Pilmuir works on the right was later acquired by Dunlop for the production of tyre fabric, this ultimately closed in 2005. The St Margarets Works on the left opened in 1870 with additional buildings added in later years. The original buildings have since been demolished to allow housing to be built. The buildings that can be seen here were opened in 1900. You can still see the bridge that linked the two factories at the end of the road. Photograph and caption uploaded to MyCanmore by Bryan Burke.
