Creating a Vision for the Commonwealth

RCAHMS, in partnership with the Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI), are looking for a documentary filmmaker to work with our unique aerial photography of Commonwealth countries, taken throughout the second half of the twentieth century.
The intention is to create a 15 minute film to be screened at major events around Scotland in the run up to and during the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. This first commission has been funded by Creative Scotland and the aim is secure further interest and funding from broadcasters to make a feature version.
The successful applicant will have a base within the National Collection of Aerial Photography (NCAP) at RCAHMS in Edinburgh, and with SDI.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to proven documentary filmmaking talent based in Scotland. Filming and editing skills are essential as well as a passion for archive material and photography.
Fee: A total fee of £15,000 will be payable on the basis of 0.75 time for 8 months.
Application process: All interested applicants must complete an online application form, which must include links to samples of the applicant’s work as well as a CV and filmography, and a 400-word proposal suggesting a vision for how to integrate the archive into an engaging and insightful short film about the Commonwealth.
Deadline: All applications must be in by 12 noon on Thursday 25 July. Interviewees will be notified on Monday 29 of July. Interviews will be held in Edinburgh on Friday 2 August.
