Public Consultation Complete

1 August 2013

The 12-week public consultation on the new strategy for Scotland’s historic environment and the merger of Historic Scotland and RCAHMS is now complete.

The end of the consultation is a milestone in our transition process.

The views expressed through this consultation will play an important part in shaping the legislation for the new body and the wider framework within which it will operate.

Equally important, the feedback will help directly in developing the identity and character of the new body itself.

We are committed to building upon the very best of both existing bodies while also creating room for future improvement.

The consultation process has been supported by a wide range of partners and stakeholders, so we’d like to thank those who took the time to get involved.

We will now examine all of the consultation submissions, including partial responses, and prepare a factual report and analysis which will be submitted to Scottish Government.

It will be used by the team preparing the Bill to help inform the legislation and by the Strategy team in their development work.

The consultants’ report is expected at the end of September and will be published soon after that date.
