Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference

19 October 2012

RCAHMS and partners from across the sector are holding a major conference on 10-11 November 2012, celebrating the contribution made by community groups and volunteers to Scotland’s heritage.

The conference will feature presentations on community projects taking place throughout the country, with subjects ranging from the excavation of an Iron Age wheelhouse in North Uist, to recording historic gardens in Angus. There will also be informal workshops and discussion sessions, as well as displays and videos showcasing local heritage projects from Ayrshire to Sutherland. The conference is an ideal opportunity for community groups, volunteers and professionals to come together and share knowledge, ideas and experiences.

The main conference is a one-day event, held on Saturday 10 November at the Birnam Institute in Perthshire.

On the Sunday morning there will be tours of Dunkeld and of the nearby Hermitage, led by staff from the National Trust for Scotland.
