Local Resources: Daviot, Aberdeenshire

In April 2006 two teachers from Aberdeenshire completed a placement at RCAHMS. The teachers explored the resources of RCAHMS' archive, and selected material that could be used in school activities. One of the teachers, at the time working at Daviot Primary School, used the archive material to inspire a two-day survey of the Loanhead of Daviot Stone Circle.

The pupil's carried out a photo-survey of the circle, and drew up a plan using data from their measured survey. Other pupils used the stone circle as inspiration for poems, short stories, and even a short play. The activities were recorded by another group of pupils in photographs, interviews and sketches that were then turned into newspaper-style articles.
