The National Collection of Aerial Photography

RCAHMS Aerial Photography website draws from Scotland's National Collection of Aerial Photography, an internationally important collection comprising over 1.6 million images of Scotland, and tens of millions of military intelligence photographs of locations across the globe.

The new website features never seen before pictures of the D-Day landings, wartime coverage of European cities like Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Rome and Berlin, views of historically significant Second World War sites like Auschwitz, Colditz and the Bridge over the River Kwai, and 1940s and 1950s imagery of all the major towns and cities in Scotland. It also provides details on how users can source imagery for every single square inch of Scotland and access the worldwide collection catalogue and order copies for research.
